I’m running for the Orange County Board of Education because our public schools deserve leadership that listens, asks hard questions, and puts students first. Education decisions should be made in the open, with integrity, and with a clear understanding of how they affect families, educators, and taxpayers.

Jason Sams is running for the Orange County Board of Education because he believes public education works best when decisions are transparent, leadership is accountable, and students — not systems — come first.
As a longtime Orange County resident, Jason has spent decades working at the intersection of education, governance, law, and finance. Throughout his career, he has advised educational and business institutions on policy, accountability, and responsible decision-making — always with an emphasis on ethics, fairness, and long-term impact.
But this campaign isn’t about titles or credentials. It’s about service.
Jason is running because he has seen how complex systems can lose sight of the people they are meant to serve. He believes families deserve clear answers, educators deserve support, and taxpayers deserve confidence that public resources are being used responsibly. On the Board of Education, Jason will bring a steady, thoughtful approach grounded in listening, collaboration, and integrity.
Jason believes every student deserves access to a strong, equitable public education — regardless of zip code, background, or circumstance. He is committed to ensuring that promised funding reaches classrooms, that oversight is real and effective, and that decisions are made openly, with the community at the table.
His approach is guided by three core principles:

Jason understands that strong public schools are foundational — not only for students, but for families, neighborhoods, and the future of our community.
Jason brings extensive experience in law, governance, finance, and public accountability. His background equips him to ask the right questions, evaluate complex information, and advocate for policies that are ethical, practical, and student-centered. With 30 years of serving communities and students of all ethnicities and preferences, Jason has provided a voice and platforms for all students of all preferences.
Just as important, Jason believes leadership begins with listening. He is committed to engaging with parents, educators, students, and community members — not just during election season, but throughout his service. 30 years of building communities, representing youth, who have been traditionally underrepresented such as Lgbtq+ communities, strengthening youth awareness, and family pride have garnered Jason an opportunity to serve as advisory board member for a social justice institution, Roosevelt University.
Jason has committed to protecting all students and creating endless value for all students to excel in school and life. Jason will continue building bridges of community investment among publicly traded organizations and Orange County's Workforce Development Initiative.
Jason is running to help restore trust in public education governance and to ensure that Orange County’s schools are guided by responsible, principled leadership. He believes boards should be accessible, informed, and focused on outcomes that truly benefit students and families. This campaign is about doing the work — thoughtfully, transparently, and together.
